Can metro parks PLEASE put together some programs for homeowners who want to re-wild part of their properties with prairie restoration? This information is very much needed so we can get away from so much lawn and restore habitats and ecosystems. Many are interested, but don’t know HOW to go about it.
Hi Jill – thanks for your suggestion. We’ll pass it around with various staff here to think about.
Which parks have prairies in bloom? We were at Sharon Woods July 25 and there weren’t many flowers in bloom. Did we miss them this year?
Hello Linda – the peak blooming tine for prairies is typically the middle period of July, over a two to three week period. The main prairies are at Battelle Darby Creek and Prairie Oaks Metro Parks.
