The overlook deck at Highbanks is one of my favorite spots for fall color, but it’s a wonderful sight at any time of year, with the river, the high banks that the park is named for and the eagles’ nest. The trail that leads to it is a beautiful walk, the best I have found so far in the park district (although I still have a few parks I’ve yet to visit). There are many large mature trees and a lot less undergrowth then you see at many parks.
