Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks is excited to announce that we are now a part of the OuterSpatial app! Whether you’re planning your next outdoor adventure or navigating trails in real time, this app is a fantastic tool for exploring everything Metro Parks has to offer.

What is OuterSpatial?

OuterSpatial is a free mobile app designed to connect people with the outdoors. Already used by organizations like the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Five Rivers MetroParks, and the National Park Service, it provides a reliable way to access park maps, trail information, and points of interest – all in one place!

Unlike user-generated apps, OuterSpatial is directly updated by park organizations, ensuring that the information you receive is accurate and up-to-date.

Why use OuterSpatial?

The app allows you to:

  • Plan visits to Metro Parks with ease
  • Navigate trails with interactive maps
  • Locate picnic areas, restrooms, parking, and more
  • Discover new places and learn about unique park features
  • Receive real-time updates on trail closures and park alerts
  • Report maintenance needs or hazards directly to Metro Parks
  • Share photos and experiences with the Metro Parks community

Best of all, the app works offline! Whether you’re at the top of Chestnut Ridge or in the depths of Clear Creek, you’ll still have access to maps to find your way.

How to download the app:

Getting started is simple:

  • Download the OuterSpatial app for free through your app store, or by clicking on this link.
  • Join the Ohio Trails+ community and search for “Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks” to access our maps and park details.
  • Start exploring, sharing experiences, and making the most of your outdoor adventures!

Don’t forget to join our “Step into Spring” challenge!

The app also includes the Step into Spring challenge. Visitors are invited to visit 20 different trails in 20 Metro Parks to search for sights and sounds of spring. For this challenge, every participant completing 7 check-ins will receive a Step into Spring sticker and be entered to win a Metro Parks picnic blanket.

Challenges like this will be added throughout the year to encourage more people to get outside and enjoy the Metro Parks! Those completing the challenge can win Metro Parks collectibles and prizes.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to enhance how you explore and connect with nature! See you on the trails!
