Slate Run Metro Park has a ton of things going for it, but something new this summer will have you tapping your feet and dancing in the park.
MusicBASH begins on Friday June 24 with the Slate Ridge Bluegrass Band. The five-player band performs traditional bluegrass and early country style music on acoustic instruments, including guitar, bass, banjo, fiddle and mandolin.
On Friday July 15, MusicBASH resumes with the smooth vocals and guitar of Bill Foley as he covers hits from the 60s and 70s by Jim Croce, James Taylor, Don McLean and others. Bill’s song list is huge so you can expect some of those ‘Oh My God I Love That Song’ moments.
The final MusicBASH features classic rock from Marquis66… on Friday August 12. The band will have you foot stomping and singing along to a raft of hits from the 50s, 60s and 70s, the great days of rock and roll.
All three concerts in the MusicBASH series are FREE and will happen come rain or shine at the Buzzard’s Roost Picnic Area. All the concerts begin at 6pm and will last approximately two hours. There is plenty of seating available at picnic tables, or bring your own folding chair and enjoy the experience of music in the park.
There is also a series of free music concerts at Inniswood Metro Gardens this summer, the annual Music in the Gardens series. The first concert is on Sunday June 26 with The High Street Stompers, playing New Orleans-style Dixieland jazz, followed by reggae music from The Ark Band on Sunday July 17, and music from guitar duo Hang Time on Sunday August 21. All three of the concerts at Inniswood are from 3 to 5pm.
