It’s an exciting time at Metro Parks! Just like springtime means buds and blooming flowers, we’re excited to announce the opening of two new areas at two different Metro Parks.
Come enjoy the Burning Lake Area at Pickerington Ponds Metro Park, featuring a natural habitat of wetlands, hardwood swamps and woods. You can already see the new Pickerington Ponds Metro Park entrance to the Burning Lake Area off Gender Road across from Shannon Road. A 1.5-mile loop multi-use trail will take you through the additional 180 acres of park land with kettle lakes and wildflower fields. Stop by and test your balance at the playground, search for hidden treasure along the trail or take a moment to admire the wildlife.

And, if you dread your pup’s muddy paws, you’ll love Scioto Audubon Metro Park‘s new K9Grass artificial turf dog park – no more muddy paws!
Thanks to a partnership with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) due to the reconstruction work on Interstate 70 and 71 Downtown, Metro Parks was able receive funding for the construction of a larger and improved 3-acre dog park near the park office on West Whittier Street. So come and bring your furry friends to this exciting new feature at Scioto Audubon. We promise your dogs will love running, jumping and playing on the artificial turf!
